Bulgarian Deputy Education and Science Minister Marieta Georgieva took part in the 2024 World Digital Education Conference in China, Georgieva's Ministry said in a press release on Friday.

Addressing the event, the Deputy Minister highlighted digitalization and teachers' digital skills. She noted the key significance of digital technologies in the process of teaching and knowledge acquisition.

Georgieva spoke about the Digital Backpack platform, about maintaining teachers' digital qualification and building a digital environment to facilitate the development of Bulgaria's future thinkers, artists and leaders.

The Bulgarian representative met with China's Education Minister Huai Jinpeng and with Shanghai Mayor Gong Zheng.

At the headquarters of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen, Deputy Minister Georgieva was familiarized with the varied solutions that the corporation proposes for the digitalization of various social and economic sectors. Special attention was paid to digital solutions for education and to ensuring cyber security, the press release says.

The 2024 World Digital Education Conference, jointly organized by the Ministry of Education, the Chinese National Commission for UNESCO and the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government, took place in Shanghai between January 29 and 31, 2024.
