Bulgaria’s Acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov has had a working breakfast with the ambassadors of the European Union Member States, the US, and the UK, the press center of the prosecution service said on Thursday. Deputy Prosecutors General Mariya Pavlova and Elena Karakasheva, Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov, and the Interior Ministry’s Secretary General, Chief Commissioner Zhivko Kotsev, also took part in the meeting held at the Boyana Residence in Sofia.
Sarafov briefed the ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic missions on the criminal policy priorities of his prosecution service related to countering cross-border organized crime, corruption, and terrorism. Emphasis was placed on the continuation of justice reform and ensuring the rule of law as important prerequisites for improving and developing business climate and increasing foreign investment in this country.
The good contacts between the competent Bulgarian institutions and those of the EU Member States, the US, and the UK were highlighted. The participants in the working breakfast expressed their readiness to meet in such a format in the future in order to establish a direct dialogue between partners and ensure effective cooperation in law enforcement.
