The market index for wholesale food prices in Bulgaria went up by 0.27% in a week to 2.266. Last week, it stood at 2.260 points, according to the Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets State Commission data.
At the beginning of 2023, the index stood at 2.316 points. In early March, it reached its spring maximum, at 2.480 points. The base level of 1 point was set in 2005.
In the outgoing week, the average wholesale price of imported cucumbers rose by 7.6% to BGN 3.27 per kilogramme. The price of imported tomatoes increased by 0.6% to BGN 3.26/kg. Potatoes fell by 2.4% to BGN 1.24/kg.
The price of carrots fell by 0.8% to BGN 1.17/kg, while the price of imported onions went down by 0.7% to BGN 1.40/kg. Cabbage fell by 3.1% to BGN 0.93/kg. Imported red peppers maintained their price of BGN 3.55/kg.
The price of imported apples dropped by 2.2% to BGN 1.78/kg. Lemons fell by 2.4% to BGN 2.06/kg. Bananas also went down by 1.1% to BGN 2.79/kg. Tangerines rose by 3.5% to BGN 2.34/kg and oranges by 0.5% to BGN 2.16/kg.
The price of white brined cheese made from cow's milk went down by 1.1% to BGN 11.10/kg. Yellow kashkaval cheese, type "Vitosha", dropped by 0.3% to BGN 16.76/kg.
Yoghurt, with a fat content of 3% and over, decreased by 2.5% and was selling at BGN 1.18 for a cup of 400 g. The price of fresh milk, with 3% fat content, went up by 0.4% to BGN 2.31/litre.
Chicken depreciated by 2.2% to BGN 6.20/kg. The average wholesale price of eggs (size M) went up by 2.7% and they were selling at BGN 0.38 per piece.
The price of rice increased by 0.3% to BGN 3.23/kg. Lentils rose by 0.7% to BGN 4.23/kg. Dry common beans fell by 0.5% to BGN 4.15/kg.
Sugar went down by 1.8% to BGN 2.20/kg. The price of sunflower oil depreciated by 4.4% to BGN 2.59/litre. Flour (type 500) dropped by 4.8% to BGN 1.20/kg. The price of butter from cow's milk stood at BGN 2,67 for a pack of 125 grammes.
