site.btaPublic Funding Available for Disabled Access Facilities' Building, Installation

Public funding for access facilities will facilitate the social inclusion of people with disabilities, the Labour and Social Policy Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

Disabled persons have until May 15, 2024 to submit project proposals under the relevant component of the National Programme for Accessible Residential Environment and Personal Mobility. Up to BGN 100,000 inclusive of VAT will be available for building and installation of ramps, lifting platforms and lifts. In case the proposed project cost exceeds this limit, the applicant may self-finance the difference.  

Under another component of the same programme, up to BGN 8,000 will be available to finance projects for the adaptation of a motor vehicles for a permanently disabled person or for the purchase of a modified car. Fitting a device or equipment enabling a wheelchair to get in and out of a motor vehicle will also be eligible for financing.  

Interviewed by BTA in December 2023, Deputy Labour and Social Policy Minister Ginka Mashova asserted that her Ministry prioritizes the well-being of people with disabilities. "Our State and institution we must make sure that they get full-fledged integration and high-quality care," Mashova said.
