Vazrazhdane and There Is Such a People (TISP) are beginning to file a series of petitions to the Constitutional Court against laws which they believe were adopted contrary to the Constitution, MP Petar Petrov of Vazrazhdane and TISP Floor Leader Toshko Yordanov told journalists in the National Assembly on Thursday.

According to Petrov, the pro-government forces of GERB-UDF, Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria, and the Movement for Rights and Freedoms violate the Constitution, the other laws and the rules of organization and procedure of the National Assembly all the time. The most recent example, he said, was the inclusion of a bill on Thursday's agenda of the National Assembly to revise the constitutional amendments just adopted on December 20, 2023. The new revisions were submitted on Tuesday, went urgently through the Legal Affairs Committee on Wednesday and reached the full House on Thursday. "We in Vazrazhdane and TISP are against this practice of violating the Constitution," Petrov said.

The first petition to the Constitutional Court concerns passing a bill at first and second reading within the same daily sitting of the legislature, even when MPs stated they would make proposals between the two readings, Petrov said.
