Minister of Economy and Industry Bogdan Bogdanov and Vidin Mayor discussed the development of the industrial zone during the Bogdanov's visit to the Danubian city. The Economy Minister told journalists about the meeting.

The local industrial zone is managed by the National Company Industrial Zones, which has prepared a project for financing under the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The Minister noted that together with the own financing, BGN 25 million will be invested in internal infrastructure and preparation of the site itself. The existing connection with railway transport, a river port and Danube Bridge 2 provides all the opportunities for this region to develop as a logistics and intermodal hub, noted Minister Bogdanov.

According to him, after the visit to the production facility of "LB Bulgaricum" EAD in Vidin, the modernization of production and the possibility of opening a company-funded dual training class will be a priority.

"The best for Vidin is yet to come," said Minister Bogdanov. The motorway to Vidin will be completed within a year and a half. From now on, the road connection to Northern and Central Europe will be easier. This will give a new economic boost to the region, he added. "We need to use what has been done so far to create a specific industry in Vidin. It will help people stay in the city and those who live and work elsewhere to come back. This can only happen when we have a functioning industry. Tourism is another opportunity. The historical significance of Vidin and all the national and cultural sites that can be seen in the area should be the main focus of both the local government and the state," he added.

This is the first Government to place municipalities on an equal footing and not have a politically-based attitude to them. This fact gave Vidin a huge chance with all the projects that will be financed, said the Mayor of Vidin Tsvetan Tsenkov and thanked the Government.
