The Czech Centre in Sofia will host the opening event of the Year of Czech Music 2024 on February 3, the Centre said in a press release on Monday.
At the concert, violinist Angel Stankov and pianist Nina Krincheva will perform works by Antonin Dvorak, Zdenek Fibich and Josef Suk.
Sofia is one of 28 cities on four continents where Czech Centres will treat foreign audiences to varied programmes to mark the Year of Czech Music and Bedrich Smetana's 200th birth anniversary.
Prof. Angel Stankov is Bulgaria's preeminent violinist and chamber music instrumentalist, first violin, and conductor. He has toured most of Europe, the US, Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Cuba. For 30 years now, Stankov has been part of the famous Stankov - Radionov Duo. The duo has won Gold Medal at the Tokyo Chamber Music Festa competition, the Prize for Great Artistic Achievements at the 12th Youth Festival in Moscow, and a 100 Years Bella Bartok Award.
Nona Krincheva is active in concert as a soloist and chamber performer. Having earned a doctor's degree in 2018, she teaches at the Music Department of New Bulgarian University. She has won prizes at local and international contests.
