Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan Friday welcomed a ruling of the Hague’s International Court of Justice that Israel should prevent acts of genocide in Gaza, CNN Turk reported.
Earlier in the day, the UN International Court of Justice ordered Israel to prevent acts of genocide against Palestinians and to do more to help civilians in the Gaza Strip, although it stopped short of ordering a ceasefire as requested by South Africa.
"I find the International Court of Justice ruling regarding the inhuman attacks in Gaza valuable and welcome it," Erdogan said.
"We will continue to follow the process to ensure that war crimes committed against innocent Palestinian civilians do not go unpunished. We hope that this decision, which is binding on the countries party to the Genocide Convention, will lead to an end to Israel's indiscriminate attacks against women, children and the elderly," he added.
"Turkiye will continue to work with all strength towards a cease-fire and permanent peace and to stand with Palestinians," Erdogan said.
