Later on Friday, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told a news briefing at the Council of Ministers that he sees no reason to panic at this stage, even if the numbers of newly confirmed COVID-19 cases have been rising. He added that if the measures are tightened now, this would instil fear in the population.

The Prime Minister also said that no one has ever declared the pandemic over, adding that the government was aware of the consequences of loosening the measures. According to today's sitting of the national coronavirus task force, COVID-19 has weakened considerably. Currently, there are much fewer hospitalized people as the rate of recovery is higher than ever.

Borissov said that Bulgaria still has sufficient hospital capacity, medicaments and protective equipment. Alexandrovska Hospital CEO Prof. Kostadin Angelov assured that hospitals are stocked with sufficient amounts of antimicrobial preparations.
