French writers Michel Bussi, Jerome Loubry, Bernard Minier and Franck Thilliez are visiting Bulgaria to participate in the Night of Reading on Friday and Saturday, January 19-20, 2024, the organizers from the Institut français de Bulgarie and the Enthusiast Publishing House said.

The upcoming Night of Reading will be centred on the masters of the French thriller.

Bulgarian readers will be able to meet Bussi, Loubry, Minier and Thilliez at the Institut français de Bulgarie on Friday, January 19, and at the Greenwich Book Centre on Saturday, January 20. Also on Saturday, the French writers are scheduled to meet academics, translators and writers at the St Kliment Ohridski University of Sofia.

The programme for the first day of the event includes a workshop with students and teachers from language schools and New Bulgarian University students and a reading workshop for children aged 6 to 10. Later in the evening, the Institut français de Bulgarie will screen the film "Arthur Rambo" directed by Laurent Cantet. Admission to the event on Saturday is free of charge.

The writers are among the top 10 most-read thriller authors in France, according to Enthusiast Publishing House. Their books have been translated into dozens of languages, selling a total of more than 10 million copies in their homeland alone and surpassing 25 million worldwide. They have won literary prizes such as the Prix Cognac, the Silver Plume Libre, the Prix Saint-Exupéry and others. Their plots are particularly realistic, dramatic and suspenseful and are often the subject of interest for the film industry in France, with some adapted for the small and large screen, Enthusiast adds.
