site.bta2023 Balkan Athlete of the Year to Be Named on January 15
The Museum of Physical Culture and Sport at Sofia's Vasil Levski National Stadium will host the 50th award ceremony for BTA's Balkan Athlete of the Year annual poll at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 15.
Official guests at the event will include Bulgarian Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev, Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Stefka Kostadinova, BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, competing and retired athletes, sports officials, and representatives of the Balkan news agencies.
The Balkan Athlete of the Year poll is conducted by BTA among the national news agencies in the Balkan countries: Agerpres (Romania), Anadolu Agency (Turkey), ANA-MPA (Greece), ATA (Albania), FENA (Bosnia and Herzegovina), HINA (Croatia), MIA (North Macedonia), MINA (Montenegro), Tanjug (Serbia), and BTA (Bulgaria).
BTA hosted the first award ceremony for its Balkan Athlete of the Year Poll on December 27, 1973. The first winner was Bulgarian 800 m runner Svetla Zlateva.
