The Bulgarian News Agency and the Central Balkan Mountains Regional Association of Municipalities in Gabrovo signed a cooperation agreement in BTA’s national press club in Gabrovo on Friday. Signatures to the document were put by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev and Tanya Hristova, the Association’s Management Board Chairperson.

Valchev said that the European Charter of Local Self-Government encourages local authorities to create associations of such kind. The activities of such associations are not popular, but after this contract and the experience to be gained, BTA will sign other agreements of such kind", he added.

Hristova expressed gratitude that her association is the first to sign an agreement with BTA. Over the years, the organization participated in a number of European projects that have brought benefits to its members, she said, adding that it is important to use the resources of information channels, and to present reliable information.

The Central Balkan Mountains Regional Association of Municipalities unites the municipalities of Antonovo, Apriltsi, Gabrovo, Dryanovo, Elena, Lovech, Lukovit, Sevlievo, Teteven, Troyan, Tryavna, Ugarchin and Yablanitsa.
