A Bulgarian documentary following the life journey of revolutionary Tane Nikolov will be screened in Chicago on January 28, the Centre announced on Facebook.
The film screening will be free of charge and will take place at 5 pm at the Bulgarica Centre, 1120 S Elmhurst Rd, Mount Prospect, IL 60056.
The film is directed by Ivan Uzunov, who has also co-written the screenplay with Dimitar Uzunov. Georgi Semov is the chief cameraman, and Svetozar Kokalanov is the narrator.
The film was shot at 35 locations in three countries. It shows some 300 restored photographs from the Archives State Agency and a number of Bulgarian museums, as well as restored archival footage from the Bulgarian National Film Archive. The film is accompanied by folk music performed by the internationally renowned Zornitsa Orchestra and a film score performed by the representative chamber band of the Prof. Asen Diamandiev Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts in Plovdiv.
Engaged in revolutionary struggle for nearly a quarter of a century, Tane Nikolov took part in the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising, the Balkan Wars and the First World War. He also headed the Internal Thracian Revolutionary Organization, which fought for the independence of Western Thrace from Greece.
