Bulgaria's 49th National Assembly opened its winter session Friday. It started with the Bulgarian and the EU anthems.

The MPs of the Vazrazhdane party sat back down while the EU anthem was playing, as they usually do.

Under Parliament's rules of procedure, the MPs took a Christmas recess between December 22, 2023 and January 10, 2024. 

Traditionally, the agenda for the first day of a new session includes declarations by the parliamentary groups where they identify their priorities for the new political season. 

Parliament Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov wished the deputies a fruitful and successful new year.
