Electricity prices for Bulgarian businesses went up by some 12% on Monday for delivery on Tuesday, January 9. Electricity was traded on the Independent Bulgarian Energy Exchange (IBEX) at an average price of BGN 212.87/MWh (exclusive of VAT) on Monday, according to trading data in the Day-Ahead market segment after trading was closed.  

On Sunday, the average price was BGN 190.89 per MWh. This means that electricity for Bulgarian businesses on Tuesday will be 11.51% more expensive compared to its price for the delivery day of Monday.

The average peak energy price (9 am – 8pm) for Tuesday is BGN 233.72 per MWh. Off-peak power (1am – 8 am; 9 pm – 12 pm) was traded at an average of BGN 192.01 per MWh.

The lowest price on Monday's session was BGN 165.45/MWh for the 3 am - 4 am period, and the highest was BGN 259.81/MWh for 8 am – 9 am.

A total of 88,902.10 MWh of electricity were sold on Monday.

In the Intraday market segment, IBEX reports a total traded volume of 8,113.60 MWh in the 60-minute products, with a weighted average daily price of BGN 219.76/MWh (exclusive of VAT). In the 15-minute products, the weighted average price was BGN 221.20 (exclusive of VAT), and the total volume traded was 1,340.83 MWh.
