Bulgaria welcomes the priorities of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which began on Monday, the Foreign Ministry in Sofia said in a message on X.
Among the priorities, the ministry listed the rule of law, democracy, competitiveness, a green and just transition, enhancing the social and healthcare programme, protecting people and borders, and promoting a global Europe.
The Foreign Ministry extended thanks to the previous six-month EU Council Presidency, which was held by Spain.
Belgium's EU Council Presidency, expiring on June 30, 2024, has vowed to work for further assistance to Ukraine. The goal is to provide sustainable political, economic, military, humanitarian and legal assistance to Kyiv.
