The Director of the General Directorate Border Police, Chief Commissioner Anton Zlatanov, Friday said that 2023 had a "calm" autumn with low migrant pressure.
"The greatest reward for us is the appreciation of our international partners who made a final inspection. The report says that we are doing an excellent job," he added.
"We can already feel the public's appreciation," Zlatanov noted. "We are not afraid of challenges. We are ready to take any decision, but we have to wait for the political decisions first," he said.
Zlatanov added that the current year has been very tough and dynamic. "This has been the busiest year so far. There was a 50% increase in migrants, which makes it the biggest one in recent years," he said.
