site.btaSome Gambling Fees Raised Drastically

The National Assembly raised some gambling fees drastically by passing provisions of the 2024 State Budget Bill on second reading on Thursday. The proposal came from GERB, the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, and Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria. The increase is expected to yield an additional BGN 200 million in annual public revenues.

The one-off fee for issuing and maintaining an online betting license is rising to BGN 400,000 from the present BGN 100,000. The one-off charge for a five-year casino games license is going up to BGN 300,000 from BGN 100,000. A 10-year casino games license will cost BGN 600,000, up from the current BGN 200,000. The change applies only to applications for new licenses.

For the issuance and maintenance of a five-year slot games license, an applicant must pay a one-off fee of BGN 75,000 if the games are organized in a settlement with a population of up to 500,000, and BGN 150,000 in a larger settlement. The fee for a slot machine is increasing to BGN 800 from BGN 500.
