site.btaSports Minister Iliev Discusses School Sports Development in Blagoevgrad

School sports development, children using sports facilities outside school hours, and building a sports school were some of the highlights of the meeting of Youth and Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev and representatives of sports clubs in the southwestern town of Blagoevgrad, Iliev’s Ministry said in a press release here on Thursday.

It transpired at the meeting that in 2023, the Sports Ministry provided some BGN 9 million for the renovation of the six state sports schools under its umbrella. The planned renovations are intended to create normal learning and training conditions for students.

Answering a question from representatives of the local sports community, Iliev said: "We will explore the possibility of building a sports school in Blagoevgrad, which is a very active sports town".
