European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Iliana Ivanova Tuesday visited the Bulgarian News Agency's (BTA) new electric vehicle (EV) fleet. She was welcomed by BTA Director General Kiril Valchev, Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva and Secretary General Julia Sokolova.
BTA received its car fleet of 30 new EVs, which will be used the news agency's correspondents across the country. Two EV charging stations have also been built on BTA's premises.
"I am really impressed by BTA’s initiative," Ivanova said. "We are already in the future," she added and noted that BTA serves as an example to all public institutions with its entirely electrified car park. Ivanova also test-drove one of the EVs.
The BTA Director General gifted the European Commissioner a commemorative medal for the 125th anniversary of the Bulgarian News Agency and a book presenting BTA's history. Ivanova wished BTA further success in the future.
The car parking is to be located behind BTA's building. The area in front of the building will be transformed into a safe and green pedestrian space, where symbols from across the world can be presented.
