The Odesa region was struck by Russian drones overnight for the third time this week. One person was reported dead. Odesa’s air defenses shot down nine Shahed-136 drones. "However, one of the downed drones fell into a residential area in the Odesa region and exploded," Governor of Odesa region Oleh Kiper said on Telegram.

Kiper added that multiple residences were damaged, and a sports facility was destroyed. The authorities are currently assessing the damage caused by the Russian attack.

The Bulgarian community in the Odesa region is the third largest, numbering over 150,000 people, according to the official 2001 census in Ukraine.

Between 50,000 and 60,000 Bulgarians reside in Odesa. The most densely Bulgarian-populated areas are Bolhrad, Izmail, and Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.
