site.bta29,000 Farmers Receive BGN 42.3 Mln in "De minimis" Aid

A total of 29,374 farmers out of 30,290 eligible agricultural producers in the subsectors of animal husbandry, bee keeping and crop growing have received BGN 42.3 million in de minimis aid, State Fund Agriculture (SFA) reported on Saturday. The remaining eligible candidates will get their share after additional administrative checks.

The aid is intended to cover part of the costs of feeding farm animals this winter and preparing for the next crop growing cycle. The maximum amount of de minimis aid a farmer may receive is EUR 25,000 over three consecutive budget years, SFA recalled.

The aid rates were announced a few days ago by Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Deyan Stratev during the annual conference of the National Sheep and Goat Breeding Association. Stratev noted that the available budget has been split into equal portions of BGN 23.7 million between animal farmers and crop growers.
