Margarita Stoykova, who played the lead role in the film Diada (directed by Yana Titova), is one of Europe's 10 rising acting talents in the 27th edition of European Shooting Stars, the National Film Centre (NFC) announced Thursday.
The ten were announced by the initiative of European Film Promotion (EFP) on December 13. From February 16 to 19, 2024, the seven actresses and three actors will be presented to the international press, industry and public in an exclusive four-day programme during the Berlinale (February 15-25, 2024) with the support of the MEDIA - Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
In the European Shooting Star list, Stoykova is in the company of Thibaud Dooms (Belgium), Suzy Bemba (France), Salome Demuria (Georgia), Katharina Stark (Germany), Eanna Hardwicke (Ireland), Valentina Belle(Italy), Dziugas Grinys (Lithuania), Kamila Urzedowska (Poland) and Asta Kamma August (Sweden).
Margarita Stoykov is 18 years old and is the youngest actress selected for Shooting Stars this year. The jury has already noted her fearlessness as an actress "portraying a multifaceted character in an extraordinary way - an initially unsympathetic character who gradually reveals her layers of fragility," the NFC said.
