Members of the BSP for Bulgaria parliamentary group, including Ivan Chenchev, Borislav Gutsanov, Hristo Prodanov and Georgi Gyokov, went to the regional government building in Sofia on Thursday asking to see the documents relevant to the dismantling and restoration of the Soviet Army Monument in the capital.

After Governor Vyara Todeva declined to meet with them, Gutsanov protested that she had no right to do that. "This woman must resign, and she must do it today," the MP insisted.

Prodanov commented: "We want the documents for this act of vandalism. You [journalists] can see for yourselves that the regional governor has locked herself inside." Later, the group left the building.

Meanwhile, the Stand Up.BG party, which has filed a lawsuit demanding an end to "the Taliban-style cutting of the Soviet Army Monument to pieces", reported in a press release that the Sofia Administrative Court has given the regional government a day to present its reasons for dismantling and cutting the bronze figures of the monument.
