A forum under the European Universities initiative was held in Sofia on Tuesday. Launched six years ago, the initiative aims to develop education, science, and creativity of young people in Europe. The discussion was organized by the embassies of Spain and France in Sofia in the framework of the Spanish presidency of the EU, the Education and Science Ministry said in a press release.
Addressing the event, Education and Science Minister Galin Tzokov said that eight Bulgarian universities participate in the initiative and two others are its associate members. It is important to have a public and specialized discussion about the universities' curricula, their effective funding, student credits in different fields, as well as the duration of studies, he stressed. The experience of European universities is also very important and Bulgaria should study it while seeking the best solutions, he added.
The forum was attended by Spanish Ambassador to Bulgaria Alejandro Polanco Mata and French Ambassador to Bulgaria Joel Meyer, while Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Mariya Gabriel greeted the participants in a video address.
