Five Bulgarian Bank Managers Receive Banker of the Year Award

The 30th Banker of the Year Awards, organized by Banker newspaper, were presented to five Bulgarian bank managers at a ceremony at the Astoria Grand Hotel’s Opera Hall in Sofia on Monday evening. The newspaper recognizes the managers of financial institutions with the most remarkable achievements of the past year.

CEO and Chair of the Management Board of UniCredit Bulbank Tsvetanka Mincheva received the award for her efforts in attracting young Bulgarians to the ЕSG Academy specialized programme.

Vice President Iliana Iotova, who presented the award to Mincheva, said that she was honoured to take part in the ceremony and looked back at the work of the founder and long-time editor-in-chief of Banker newspaper, Bistra Georgieva, who passed away in late August 2022. "It is not important what you promise to the public today, but what you will do about it tomorrow," Iotova said, recalling Bistra Georgieva's words.

Country Manager of KBC Group for Bulgaria Peter Roebben, who is also UBB Management Board Chair and CEO, received the award for his bank’s stable growth during consolidation. The award was presented to him by Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Ivaylo Shotev.

TBI Bank Management Board Chair Valentin Galabov was honoured for the bank’s good return on equity and asset growth. He received the award from Regional Development and Public Works Minister Andrey Tsekov.

Postbank Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer and Management Board Member Dimitar Shoumarov was awarded for the high sustainability achieved in the current complex macroeconomic environment. He received the award from Georgieva's son Iliya Dzhagarov.

Vivacom Corporate Sales Director Nikola Gechev presented Procredit Bank Executive Director and Management Board Member Rumyana Todorova with the award for finding optimal solutions in the digitalization and transformation of banking activities.
