Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mariya Gabriel will host a conference, titled "The Foreign Policy Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria: Challenges and Opportunities", said the Foreign Ministry press centre. The event will take place in the House of Europe in Sofia.
The event will be attended by National Assembly Chair Rosen Zhelyazkov, Deputy Director of the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies Prof. Velizar Shalamanov, Prof. Ingrid Shikova from the Department of European Studies at Sofia University, political scientist Prof. Antony Todorov, representatives of academic circles, experts and journalists. Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel will open the forum.
In the conditions of a dynamically changing international and regional situation, constantly arising conflicts, and an increasing threat of hybrid attacks and disinformation, the development and adoption of a national strategy for Bulgaria's foreign policy will have added value, said the Foreign Ministry.
Against the background of the clear priorities in Bulgarian politics, such as active membership in the European Union and NATO, Bulgaria's participation in strategic and regional partnerships, work with Bulgarians abroad, the role of cultural diplomacy, Deputy Prime Minister Gabriel stressed the need for a discussion to outline their parameters. Gabriel's idea is to hold a series of such debates on the subject, the Foreign Ministry informed.
