President Rumen Radev will be on a working visit to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on December 1-2, where he will lead the Bulgarian delegation to the 28th session of the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 28) and will participate in the Climate Summit to be held within the framework of the global forum, Radev's press centre said on Thursday.

On December 1, the Head of State will inaugurate Bulgaria's national pavilion, which Bulgaria will have for the first time at the annual world forum. In the dedicated space, representatives of the state, business, NGOs and science will have the opportunity to present achievements in decarbonisation, along with their activities and ambitions in technology and innovative green industries. Leaders of other countries and heads of delegations represented at COP 28 are expected to attend the opening event.

On December 2, Radev will deliver a national address at the Climate Summit.

The programme of the Head of State includes a number of bilateral meetings, and participation in a high-level event for the official presentation of a declaration on tripling the share of nuclear energy. The declaration underlines the important role of nuclear energy in achieving carbon neutrality and notes the results of the analysis of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which show that global nuclear capacity should be tripled between 2020 and 2050 in order to limit the increase in the Earth's average surface temperature to 1.5C.
