The control bodies of the General Labour Inspectorate Executive Agency carried out 3,666 inspections in the agriculture sector until October 31, 2023, when the active agricultural season ended, the agency's press centre said on Wednesday. The sector is subject to increased scrutiny every year as it is high-risk when it comes to undeclared labour and occupational health and safety, the Agency said.

The inspections found 13,549 breaches of labour legislation. The majority of them, 7,866, concerned health and safety at work. Violations concerning the performance of labour relations amounted to 5,678. The number of cases of work without a contract of employment was 272.

Since the beginning of 2023, the Labour Inspectorate has provided 252,206 sample employment contracts for short-term seasonal agricultural work. The number of farmers requesting samples of the so-called one-day contracts is 1,786. By crop, the largest number of samples were requested for the cultivation and harvesting of grapes, strawberries, cherries, oil roses, apples, etc.

A week ago, the Labour Inspectorate announced the results of inspections carried out during the campaign in the active summer season. A total of 8,246 violations were detected during 1,440 inspections.
