Bulgaria will have its first ever pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), which opens in Dubai on November 30, said Sylvia Rangelova, Director of the EU Affairs and International Cooperation Department at the Environment and Water Ministry. She addressed a two-day workshop for regional journalists on "Local Stories on Global Climate Change", which opened on Monday. It is organized by the BlueLink foundation.
Bulgaria will be represented by 250 participants in 22 panels with 22 events. President Rumen Radev will inaugurate the Bulgarian pavilion on December 1, Rangelova said. There will be more than 200 pavilions.
Countries, NGOs and businesses will showcase their activities in the pavilions during the 14-day conference. The idea is to show what Bulgarian business is doing, and to see that Bulgaria's representatives are on par with the world as they use new technologies and work on innovative processes and ideas, the expert said.
Every day at COP28 has a different theme. There is a day devoted to early warning systems. Bulgaria's Sofia and Gabrovo will present their visions for climate neutrality at a panel for municipalities.
The host of COP29 has not been chosen yet. The final decision will be made in Dubai on December 11-12, Rangelova said.
