site.btaPupils in Taraclia Miss School on Monday
The Head of the Education Department of Taraclia Region, Lilia Sarsaman, told Tuk.md on Monday that children in her region will not go to school on Monday due to the complicated situation that involves no electricity or internet, broken wires and blocked roads. The children will have to make up the missed classes on one of the upcoming Saturdays.
Sarsaman said that school principals have until the end of Monday to report on the situation in the schools - whether the roads have been cleared of snow, whether power has been restored and whether heating is provided. She added: "If the situation does not improve, there will be no school day tomorrow [Tuesday] either". This applies mostly to rural schools.
A yellow weather code is currently in force in Moldova due to strong winds and snowfall. According to information from the electricity distributors, as of Monday morning, 139 localities in 14 regions of the country remained partially without electricity.
