The Union of the Blind in Bulgaria Wednesday presented awards to the winners of a national competition for visually impaired artists. The event took place at BTA's National Press Club in Sofia. President Rumen Radev's wife, Desislava Radeva, who is the patron of the competition, presented the awards to the winners in four categories.
The winners are Veselina Stoilova for a poem and an essay and Yon Dim for a short story. The award in the song category went to Veselina Stoilova (lyrics), Nedyalka Stoynova (music and arrangement) and the Nadezhda Trio of the Black Sea city of Varna (vocals).
Excerpts from the winning works were read out at the ceremony.
Radeva wished the winners longevity. Union of the Blind Chairperson Vasil Dolapchiev thanked Radeva for her patronage of the initiative and for focusing public attention on disability issues.
The Union of the Blind would like the competition to become a tradition.
