Energy fees for import and transmission of natural gas in transit originating from Russia will be owed by the users of the gas transmission network, and not by the operator, Parliament decided here on Thursday by adopting amendments to the Control of the Implementation of Restrictive Measures in view of Russia's Actions Destabilizing the Situation in Ukraine Act .

MPs voted the amendments on first and second reading during the plenary session.

The amendments were tabled by Radoslav Ribarski, Vasil Stefanov and Ivaylo Mirchev from Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria.

The aim is not to jeopardize the liquidity and financial situation of the transmission system operators, the sponsors of the bill said.
