site.btaBG-ALERT Warning System to Be Tested in North, Northeast Bulgaria on Wednesday
The BG-ALERT early warning system will be tested in several areas of the country on Wednesday, the Ministry of Interior said.
Wednesday’s tests will be on the territory of the regions of Veliko Turnovo, Razgrad, Ruse and Silistra. For half an hour, between noon and 12:30 pm, a message containing text in Bulgarian and English will be broadcast.
The one-time receipt of the message on mobile devices is expected to be accompanied by a specific sound and vibration, even with silent mode enabled.
The tests will continue in Varna, Dobrich, Targovishte and Shumen regions on November 16, in Burgas, Sliven, Stara Zagora and Yambol regions on November 21, in Blagoevgrad, Kyustendil, Pernik, Sofia City and Sofia regions on November 22, and in Kardzhali, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Smolyan and Haskovo regions on November 23.
On November 29, a nationwide BG-ALERT test will take place. During each test, a message will be broadcast for half an hour from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m., containing texts both in Bulgarian and English.
