site.btaBTA Press Club in Varna Receives Regional Media Award of Global Libraries - Bulgaria

The National Press Club of the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) in Varna received the annual award of the Global Libraries - Bulgaria Foundation in the regional media category. The ceremony took place tonight at the centre for contemporary arts Toplocentrala here on Monday.

The award was received by BTA Deputy Director General Evgenia Drumeva, who said: "The award for the Varna Press Club means so much to us, because one of our focuses is the correspondents' network in the country". She said that one of BTA's strategic goals is to promote education, which is exactly why the Agency launched its LIK directorate dedicated to culture, science and education in 2021. She added: "Just over a year ago, we recruited the first LIK directorate correspondent in the country, specifically in Varna".

The Agency's Press Club in Varna was nominated for the award by the Pencho Slaveykov Regional Library in Varna.

The award, as well as a special certificate on the occasion of BTA's 125th anniversary, was presented to Drumeva by Snezhana Yoveva, Director of the State Cultural Institute under the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Yoveva praised BTA for promoting libraries among the Bulgarian public.

The Global Libraries - Bulgaria Foundation Awards were established in 2017 in the pursuit to make Bulgarians better informed by ensuring equal access to information, culture, knowledge and services through the country's network of public libraries.

This year's awards ceremony is part of the annual Libraries Today Forum organized by Global Libraries - Bulgaria Foundation.
