site.btaTaraclia Marks Bessarabian Bulgarians Day with Traditional Festival
The city of Taraclia in Molodva, hosted a regional folklore festival to commemorate the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians. Folklore groups from
Gagauzia, Leova and Taraclia performed at the local cultural centre.
Students of the children’s art school in Taraclia and Leova presented their paintings and hand-crafted works. All groups received certificates and souvenirs from the organizers. The festival ended with a big horo dance.
The festival was organized within the framework of the projects of Moldova’s Agency for Interetnic Relations for promoting multilingualism and intercultural dialogue.
Taraclia hosted a number of other events to mark the Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians – a competition for a Bulgarian folk and pop song and an exhibition of paintings by the local artist Nikolay Ktoman.
The Day of Bessarabian Bulgarians has been marked since 1938 by the descendants of Bessarabian and Tavrian Bulgarians.
