site.btaHealth Minister: Current Healthcare System Is Fragmented

Currently, healthcare system is fragmented, said Health Minister Hristo Hinkov at an international conference, entitled "Towards High Value Healthcare System in Bulgaria” in Sofia on Thursday. 

The discussion is jointly organized by representatives of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bulgaria, the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Industry and Commerce and the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce. The event was also attended by German Ambassador Irene Maria Plank and US Ambassador Kenneth Merten.

Fragmentation is at all levels - the treatment process, the flows of information and drugs prescription, said Hinkov. 

Parliamentary healthcare committee chair Prof. Kostadin Angelov said that Bulgaria is EU’s worst performer in terms of mortality and morbidity.

The forum was attended the ambassadors of Germany, Switzerland and the US, the, the leaderships of the Bulgarian Medical Association, the Bulgaria Pharmaceutical Union, of associations of private hospitals, of pharmaceutical associations, and head of medical establishments.
