Several countries have been implicated in the case of more than 50 kg of drugs seized in a diplomatic vehicle at the border between Bulgaria and Turkiye, said director of the department for combating drug trafficking at the Customs Agency Stefan Bakalov. He pointed out that this case is quite complicated and no more details can be given at the moment because of the investigation. According to Bakalov, it is not a precedent for drugs to be found in a diplomatic vehicle.
Only in recent months the customs teams have seized nearly five tons of different types of drugs. The smuggling took place in both directions, Bakalov added.
On Wednesday, Anadolu Agency reported the seizure of nearly 55 kg of cocaine in a vehicle belonging to the embassy in Sofia of a South American country. According to their information, the vehicle with diplomatic number plate had arrived at Kapakule from the Bulgarian border crossing Kapitan Andreevo.
