A Carnegie Hall gala opened the new season of the Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York, the Bulgarian Consulate General in the US metropolis says in a Facebook post.

The "remarkable show", as the Consulate describes it, involved mezzo-soprano Mariana Karpatova, violinists Stanichka Dimitrova, Joanna Maurer and Georgi Valchev, violist Lev Zhurbin, cellists Wolfram Koessel and Alberto Parrini, and pianists Lora Al-Ahmad, Aleksandar Hadzievski, Anna Stoytcheva and Lora Tchekoratova.

They performed works by Marin Goleminov, Sergei Prokofiev, Dobrinka Tabakova, Franz Schubert, Manuel Ponce, Johannes Brahms and George Gershwin.

"The Consulate General in New York will be privileged again to host many of the upcoming concerts, which will draw classical music lovers in New York," the post says.

The Bulgarian Concert Evenings in New York are a classical and contemporary chamber music series. All concerts are performed by world renowned Bulgarian and international artists in the intimate second-floor Library of the Bulgarian Consulate General. In addition, the series features an annual opening night gala at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall as well as a Musical Treasures from Bulgaria concert, presenting young Bulgarian musicians, that is also held at Weill Recital Hall, according to information on the BCENY website.
