Bulgarian Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov arrived in Vienna Tuesday for talks with Chancellor Karl Nehammer, MPs and business representatives.
The two government leaders will have a one-on-one meeting, after which bilateral talks will be held with the participation of the Bulgarian delegation, which includes Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov and Deputy Foreign Minister Elena Shekerletova.
Denkov will also visit the Austrian Parliament to meet with the heads of the committees on EU affairs, foreign policy, and internal affairs, as well as with the Chairman of the Friendship Group with Romania and Bulgaria in the Austrian Parliament, Harald Troch, and with MPs from different political formations.
The agenda also includes a meeting meeting with Georg Knill, President of the Federation of Austrian Industry, and senior managers of large Austrian companies operating on the Bulgarian market.
Austria remains opposed to Bulgaria’s entry in the Schengen area and Denkov hopes to be able to talk them into changing their mind. Departing from Sofia, the Prime Minister made it clear that he does not expect Vienna to give an answer during his visit.
