site.btaBorder Police Detain Dutch Citizen, 5 Syrians Near Border with Serbia

On Thursday evening at around 23:00, border police officers patrolling along the Europe Motorway noticed a visibly overloaded car headed towards the Kalotina checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Serbian border. The car was pulled over for inspection near the border. The officers found that the driver was a 36-year-old citizen of the Netherlands, born in Syria. He was carrying in the car five men, Syrian citizens, all with valid refugee status in Bulgaria, the Border Police reported here on Friday. 

The six foreigners were detained. It was established that the Dutch citizen entered Bulgaria on October 8 this year through Sofia Airport. Work on the case is ongoing.
