Regional Development Minister Andrey Tsekov said Wednesday that in the last year there was evidence of unusually active migration of citizens with voting rights to 343 settlements in Bulgaria. “It changes the electoral balance and composition of the settlement and raises doubts whether it is not tied to electoral tourism,” he pointed out.

Tsekov has instructed a check to be made of the registrations made last year and of the applications submitted for voting at the time of expiry of the deadline for their submission.

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov has been informed of the report's findings, the Regional Development Minister noted. Tsekov added that it was within the powers of the regional governors to form commissions, which should include representatives of the municipal and regional administration, the Directorate of the State Administration of the Interior Ministry and the territorial divisions of the Interior Ministry, which should carry out checks on the legality of the additional registrations made by current address and take the necessary action in cases of violations.
