The Association of Slovaks from Bulgaria held its annual meeting in Bratislava, which was also attended by guests from Romania, Czechia, Hungary and Serbia, the Bulgarian Embassy in Slovakia wrote on its Facebook page on Wednesday. Bulgarian Ambassador in Bratislava Vassil Petkov was a guest of honour.

A concert was staged in the framework of the meeting. An exhibition highlighting the life of Slovaks in Bulgaria in the mid-20th century was opened as well.

In a greetings address, Ambassador Petkov thanked Slovaks from Bulgaria for preserving Bulgarian tradition and passing it on to the younger generation. The Embassy said in its online post: "Relations between Bulgaria and Slovakia have deep historical and cultural roots and have always been marked by closeness and sincere friendship, which was clearly evidenced by this event."
