site.btaSports Minister Meets with Commission for Protection against Discrimination Chair, Deputy Chair

Sports Minister Dimitar Iliev held Tuesday a working meeting with Commission for Protection against Discrimination (CPD) Chair Assoc. Prof. Ana Djumalieva and Deputy Chair Assoc. Prof. Baki Huseinov. They discussed the possibilities for cooperation between his ministry and the CPD in order to take action to prevent discrimination both during sporting events and within sporting communities.

The leadership of the CPD informed the Minister about the signals of discrimination received by the Commission and the desire to work together to prevent discrimination and eliminate stereotypes in sports communities.

A commitment was made to outline activities that can be used to implement policies for equal opportunities and prevention of various forms of discrimination. The two sides agreed that it is important to have more information on what acts constitute discrimination, how to identify it and how to react, and discussed the possibilities for interaction through training, seminars, analysis, etc.
