The mayor of Kaynardzha Municipality in Silistra Region - Lyuben Sivev, and the mayor of the village of Colibabovca in Leova Region in Moldova - Ivan Iskimji, signed a twinning agreement to create conditions for successful development of the two settlements with Bulgarian population.

Twinning of small settlements in Bulgaria and Moldova is done in cooperation with the Future 2008 Foundation. Ivaylo Angelov, Chairman of the Foundation, said that the signing ceremony was attended by Taraclia Region Chairman Ivan Paslar, Georgi Barbarov - Chairman of the Bulgarian Municipality in the Republic of Moldova NGO, Tvarditsa Mayor Georgi Popov (Taraclia Region), as well as local residents.

The guests from Bulgaria greeted all present at the ceremony with authentic Bulgarian folklore performances. Angelov told BTA that the mayor of Kaynardzha presented a football, a raised-relief map of Bulgaria and books by Bulgarian authors to the school in the neighboring village of Chadar. A total of 33 children - ethnic Bulgarians from the village of Colibabovca study here, as the school in Colibabovca has been closed.

According to the 2004 census, 1,142 people live in the village of Colibabovca, of whom 934 are ethnic Bulgarians (81.79%). This is the ninth twinning between Bulgarian and Moldovan villages, organized by the Future 2008 Foundation.
