Bulgaria and Greece have gradually become a strategic axis of stability, which gives a perspective for sustainable development of the whole region. Now is the time for Bulgaria and Greece to make the most of this strategic partnership. This is what President Rumen Radev said at a briefing at the Bulgarian pavilion of the Thessaloniki International Fair. Later, the head of State welcomed Greek President Katerina Sakellaropoulou at the Bulgarian pavilion.

Radev thanked his Greek counterpart for the interest shown in Bulgaria. “This is a great opportunity for us to deepen our strategic partnership in a number of areas of mutual interest,” the Bulgarian head of State said and pointed out that the excellent relations at the highest political level have contributed to the development of strategic partnerships in a number of areas of mutual interest.

Bulgaria's participation as a country of honour at such a prestigious international exhibition is a serious recognition of Bulgaria's increased economic and scientific potential, Radev said. He pointed out that apart from traditional sectors for Bulgaria such as food industry, tourism, transport, mechanical engineering, this year the focus is on Bulgaria high-tech role in the field of IT, artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, space, green and digital economy, scientific participation, education and innovation.

Radev pointed out that so far different governments have worked on the project for constructing a natural gas interconnector with Greece, for securing Bulgaria's participation in the liquefied gas terminal in Alexandroupoli, for the initiation of the project for multimodal transport corridor between the Aegean and the Black Sea, and for the construction of a power line from the Maritsa East energy complex to Nea Santa. "These are strategic projects for our country, which bring not only direct economic benefits but they make us an important regional factor and I expect the institutions in Bulgaria to consolidate these efforts so that these projects are implemented. It is very important for me that the new regular government shares the same strategic outlook for these important projects and I have the assurance of the Prime Minister that the memoranda prepared by the caretaker government will be signed soon - this is important for our country," the President emphasized.
