The Central Election Commission declared at a meeting Monday Yordan Krastanov member of Parliament from the 17th multimember constituency in Plovdiv Region in the place of GRB-UDF Vezhdi Rashidov.

On September 1, Parliament relieved Rashidov of his duties as MP over remarks he made on August 7 about female domestic violence victims, unaware that a microphone was turned on during a break in Parliament, which was debating amendments to the Protection Against Domestic Violence Act. Rashidov resigned as Culture and Media Committee Chair and as member of GERB’s Executive Committee on the day he made the remarks, and as an MP on August 9.
