site.btaPM Denkov, EU Commissioner for Competition Discuss Bulgaria's Priorities for European Investment Bank's Future Development

Prime Minister Nikolay Denkov held a Wednesday meeting with European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager, during which they discussed Bulgaria's vision and priorities for the future development of the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Council of Ministers said on its official Facebook page.

Finance Minister Assen Vassilev also attended the talks. Vestager is a candidate for the EIB presidency.

They agreed that the cooperation in the context of the implementation of projects in Bulgaria should continue, pointing out that this will benefit the citizens not only of the region, but also of Europe, the cabinet press service said.

Bulgaria's potential accessions to the Schengen area and the euro zone were also discussed. Denkov pointed out that Bulgaria has fulfilled all the Schengen criteria and stressed the future positive results of Bulgaria's membership for the entire European community.

A foreign mission is expected to arrive in Bulgaria in September to check the country's readiness to join Schengen.
