The summer tourist season on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast continues actively in September camping. Bookings for caravans, bungalows and campervans on the Bulgarian platform Karavani.bg for the coming month are almost twice as many compared to the same period in 2022, their data show.

The choice to go on a camping holiday in September, booking through the platform for sustainable tourism, is made mostly by young people - between 25 and 45 years (over 50%). The demand for holidays in natural surroundings is mostly comes from people in the country's major cities - Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Burgas and Stara Zagora (over 80 per cent). This year there is also an increased interest from Bulgarians living abroad, as well as foreigners who choose to spend their holidays on Bulgarian campsites. The countries from which people look for a camping holiday on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast include Germany, the UK, the USA, the Netherlands, as well as neighbouring Romania and Greece.

"We can safely say that in September the summer season continues in full swing for all those who prefer to relax in nature. The good weather is expected to last longer, which is also a prerequisite for higher demand. A trend in bookings this year is that in September, a higher class of experience is sought - caravans and bungalows that provide all amenities and comfort to their visitors," said the founder of Karavani.bg Nikolay Nekov.

Trends also show that warmer temperatures in July have led campers to prioritize shaded and air-conditioned sites.

Enquiries about the provision of facilities for babies and young children, such as playpens, have also increased. This shows that more parents with younger children are choosing camping holidays that provide the opportunity to play outside and separate from screens.

Among the preferences of holidaymakers is that accommodation should allow and be suitable for pets.
