The 39th Apollonia Arts Festival (August 27 – September 5, 2023) will offer its audience a varied film bill including some of the year’s latest releases, the organizers said on Wednesday.

Edited and produced by Marian Valev, Chalga has been billed as the first Bulgarian film made entirely by cellphone, as well as a top box office movie in Bulgaria for 2023 with over 110,000 viewers. The film will be screened in Sozopol’s Summer Cinema on September 2.

Morality Is Goodness is on the programme for August 29. The documentary that achieved record viewer numbers in cinemas countrywide tells about the lifework of the late Assoc. Prof. Kristian Takov LLD, a prominent legal scholar, intellectual and public figure.

The festival’s bill also includes Shakespeare Like a Street Dog, directed by Valeri Yordanov, starring Zachary Baharov.

The Good Driver is the debut feature film of Tonislav Hristov who has made a name for himself with his documentaries.
